The Avengers are called upon by S.H.I.E.L.D. to test the battle-hardiness and resiliancy of the new metal adamantium. They find it is easily able to withstand everything they throw against it. Meanwhile, the Vision slips away from the demonstration, overcome by a strange sensation. He soon collects himself, and returns to steal the adamantium and turn against the Avengers.
