Captain Marvel and Billy Batson are renamed Captain Thunder and Willie Fawcett in this first meeting with Superman. Willie tells Clark Kent the story of how he became Captain Thunder, and how uttering the magic word "thunder" gives him the power of a Tornado, the speed of a Hare, the bravery of Uncas, the wisdom of Nature, and toughness of Diamond, the flight of an Eagle and the tenacity of a Ram. He'll need all of those abilities if he and Superman are going to determine why he becomes a criminal when he transforms in the unfamiliar surroundings of Metropolis, and to send him back to the parallel dimension he comes from.
