German Colonel Manfred Priess is ordered to stage a rear guard action with walking wounded and inexperienced youths, while the main body of the German army retreats. The haunted Tank comes upon Priess' men just as they are asked to surrender by Allied command. Priess suggests a one-on-one combat between his Tiger and the Haunted Tank, whom he has fought several times in the recent past. He loses and his command surrenders, he wins and the Germans destroy the pass that will prevent Allied pursuit. After a savage fight, JEB and his crew are victoious, but priess forces JEB to shoot him. Priess considers his loss a worth sacrifice allowing his young and wounded men to survive the war.
