While searching for Marty March, the brother of Eddie March who went M.I.A. during Vietnam, Iron Man and Roxi Gilbert encounter some locals who would prefer to go without American involvement. One of these individuals convinces the mutant Sunfire to attack Iron Man. (Sunfire agrees in order to damage S.I.'s hold on international markets that could belong to Japan.) During the battle, the Mandarin detects Sunfire's energies, and kidnaps him via teleportation to steal enough power to reverse the body swap he experienced with the Unicorn several issues ago. Iron Man recognizes the teleportation signature, but can't follow immediately, as his current mask can't handle the pressures near the undersea base the Mandarin has set up. Iron Man updates the face mask, and comes back to finish the job.
