The Avengers face off against the Collector, who has tools around that are perfect for stopping many of them individually. The only Avenger left standing is soon to be Hawkeye. While Hawkeye may lack raw power, he has enough skill to win the day. The Avengers force the Collector to explain himself, and learn about the existence of a grave threat.
